Scope of Work

Project planning for high winds hazards for County of Maui that help defines project expectations, helps avoid future conflict/provide resolution, and avoid scope creep. Ultimately, this supports a plan to create a persistent system, maintain & evolve the system, identify risks, and inform decision-makers.

Stakeholder Management

Generate stakeholder strength map practices representing groups in the community to identify those who can positively/negatively influence project efforts.

Hazard Analysis

Simple Geospatial Risk Assessment

Risk Communication

Navigate through disaster discovery, analysis, and creative phase with a hazard mapping GIS System including  layers depicting hazard areas, housing, and critical infrastructure:

  • Develop a natural hazard risk exposure profile & hazard prioritization tool

  • Delineate hazard areas in Maui & create structure inventory of buildings within flood hazard layer

  • Create maps depicting natural hazard areas &AGOL

    asset layer â€‹â€‹

Perform an analysis that merges the attributes for hazard with the structures and then perform calculations within them showing the risk for a potential moderate level tsunami in Tongoy:

  • Spatial join analysis

  • Calculate analysis field to show moderate tsunami risk = resistance minus max depth

Learn good communication to convey confidence, represent ambiguity in maps, and create a story map that describes a potential impact from a tsunami in Tongoy (deterministic model of generating risk assessment information).
